Terms of Service
Last updated 5 September 2026
These terms cover your use of the Stuttering Recovery app. By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. What Stuttering Recovery is
Stuttering Recovery is a rehearsal app for adults who stutter. It writes a script for a conversation you are about to have, speaks the other person while you practise, gives you Quick Prep for the seconds before you speak, and keeps a record of what you did in real conversations.
2. What Stuttering Recovery is not
It is not medical care. It is a preparation tool. It diagnoses nothing, and it promises no change in your speech. It is not a substitute for working with a licensed speech-language pathologist, a doctor, or a mental health professional.
A licensed speech-language pathologist reviews the app’s guidance before release. The app is still not supervised practice, and no clinician reviews what you do in it.
The answers you give after a conversation — whether you said what you wanted, whether speaking got in the way, whether you changed any words — are your own judgement of that conversation. They are not a clinical measure, they have no diagnostic meaning, and they are not a measurement of your speech. The app does not score speech, count blocks, repetitions or fillers, or rate how you sound.
If you are worried about your speech, your breathing, or your mental health, please speak to a qualified professional.
3. Who can use the app
You must be 13 or older. The app is designed for adults. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian’s agreement.
4. Your account
The app creates an anonymous account for you on first launch. You can link your Apple ID using Sign in with Apple to sync your work and use the app across multiple devices. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the identifier and relay email address provided by Apple; we do not ask for your name or phone number. You are responsible for the device you use the app on.
5. Subscriptions and payment
Stuttering Recovery is a paid subscription. There is no free version. Onboarding ends at the subscription screen, and everything in the app is included once you subscribe.
The subscription costs $79.99 per year or $9.99 per month, after a 3-day free trial. If you dismiss the first screen, one alternative offer is shown: the monthly plan at $9.99. Prices may differ in your local currency and store.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Manage or cancel your subscription in your device Settings, under your Apple ID, in Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
If you start a free trial and do not cancel before it ends, you will be charged for the first period. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms. We cannot issue refunds directly.
6. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- use the app for anything unlawful;
- try to break, reverse engineer, or get around the app’s security or its paid features;
- use automated means to access our servers, or place unreasonable load on them;
- use the script generator to produce harmful, abusive, or illegal content.
We may suspend access if you do any of these.
7. The script generator
A language model writes the rehearsal script. It is a rehearsal tool, not a person and not a professional. It can make mistakes and can write things that are wrong. Do not rely on it for advice of any kind. Do not type personal details, financial information, or anything confidential into the two fields the builder asks for.
8. Your content
Your moment log, your ratings and the lines you type belong to you. We do not claim ownership of them, and we do not use them to train any model. See the Privacy Policy for what is stored and where.
9. Our content
The app, its written content, its design, and its name belong to us. You may use them for your own practice. You may not copy, redistribute, or sell them.
10. Availability
We try to keep the app working, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or free of faults. Writing a new rehearsal script needs an internet connection; everything else works offline. We may change or withdraw features.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties that are not expressly stated here.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Ending these terms
You may stop using the app at any time. Delete it from your device, and use Delete account and data in the You tab first if you want your account and data removed. We may end your access if you break these terms.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for a significant change, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
